The Enginerds in Action

Team 617 has always been a student-run team from Highland Springs High School. Our mentors are here to offer their support and assistance if we get off-track or lose sight of our goals. We begin to work long before kick-off, but the real brainstorming comes the day the challenge is announced. We work hard and cooperate with our teammates to produce a great solution to the problem. Also, we have occasional team activities that allow us to relax and put off some stress from build season, such as movie fundraisers and team dinners.

Before kick-off, our team was working diligently and efficiently to tidy up the shop, reach sponsors, host fundraisers, and practice robot controls. Our team then came to school the Saturday the 2010 competition was announced to brainstorm and discuss what we hope to accomplish this year.

As time progressed, we wrapped up our final robot designs and began construction. Both our design and manufacturing groups worked with each other to help create a robot capable of meeting the task of 2010's competition, Breakaway.
