About Us
The Enginerds in Action

Team 617 has always been a student-run team from Highland Springs High School. Our mentors are here to offer their support and assistance if we get off-track or lose sight of our goals. We begin to work long before kick-off, but the real brainstorming comes the day the challenge is announced. We work hard and cooperate with our teammates to produce a great solution to the problem. Also, we have occasional team activities that allow us to relax and put off some stress from build season, such as movie fund raisers and team dinners.

Before kick-off, our team was working diligently and efficiently to tidy up the shop, reach sponsors, host fundraiser's, and practice robot controls. Our team then came to school the Saturday the 2010 competition was announced to brainstorm and discuss what we hoped to accomplish that year.

As time progressed, we wrapped up our final robot designs and began construction. Both our design and manufacturing groups worked with each other to help create a robot we named Deka capable of meeting the task of 2010's competition, Breakaway.

This year, we're working diligently on brainstorming ideas for the 2011 competition. In the meantime, our new officers have been introduced to their surroundings and we're on our way to raising funds for the future.
